SUPERIOR COURT OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS
August 29, 2006
Governor Charles W. Turnbull has renominated Judge Rhys S. Hodge to the
position of Superior Court Judge of the Virgin Islands. His term of appointment
expired on June 23, 2006 and pursuant to law, he may continue in office until
October 23, 2006.
Judge Hodge is currently serving as Presiding Judge of the Superior Court.
Governor Turnbull noted that Judge Hodge has served with distinction as a judge
since June 2000, and has served in all divisions of the Court including the Family
Division. Before joining the Court, he was a successful attorney operating his
own law firm, and is the past president of the Virgin Islands Bar Association.
Governor Turnbull stated “that by appointment dated July 19, 2006, he
nominated Judge Hodge to the position of Justice of the Supreme Court of the
Virgin Islands and that the reappointment to the position of Judge of the
Superior Court of the Virgin Islands is not a revocation of that Supreme Court
nomination. I therefore urge the members of the Legislature to promptly
approve his renomination so that the Superior Court can continue to meet its
busy agenda without interruption.”
