CITY OF BROOKINGS Press Release For immediate release January 16, 2009
CITY REQUESTING APPLICATIONS FOR COMMUNITY RELATIONS FUND
The City of Brookings is requesting applications for funding under its Community Relations Fund Program, allocated in its 2008/2009 Fiscal Year budget. This will be the only opportunity for community groups and organizations to apply to the City for funding of a local event or project. Total available funding for the program is $2,000. Last year, the City received nine applications and awarded five grants in amounts ranging from $50 - $950. Successful applicants will be non-profit organizations planning events or projects that will serve a broad base of the Brookings community and have difficulty moving forward without program funding assistance. Final recommendations, provided to Council by a subcommittee comprised of City staff and Council members, will be considered for funding at the February 26th City Council meeting. Application packets will be available at the Utility Billing Counter in City Hall, 898 Elk Drive, beginning Friday, January 16th, 2009. The deadline to apply for funding under this program is 4:30pm, Friday, February 13, 2009. Please call 469-1102 for more information.
