  The Employment Opportunities Bulletin (EOB) is updated each Monday and reflects the previous week's
  newly opened positions. The EOB is sent via email to local Employment Development Department offices,
  college/university placement offices and many community based organizations.

    Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) has received foundation funding to conduct a
    large national panel study on the effect of unintended pregnancy on women’s lives; The Turnaway Study
    seeks a social scientist to lead the development of a key research project on abortion-related stigma.
    Additional funding for this position comes from the Packard foundation and is aimed at developing new
    theory around abortion and stigma; currently there is no validated measure of abortion stigma in the US
    context; The incumbent will be primarily responsible for developing a scale to measure abortion stigma
    among women who have had abortions; this research will be conducted in three phases: item development,
    cognitive interviews and scale validation; the successful candidate will bring significant experience in
    research on abortion-related stigma and a history of successful research design and publishing study
    findings; in addition to the primary research project, the social scientist will be tasked with developing an
    abortion stigma research program which may include developing additional measures of abortion stigma (eg.
    community-level stigma, provider stigma), advancing abortion stigma theory, and working with

    developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, and training and supervising Ugandan research
    technicians in basic skills of PBMC separation and cryopreservation. In addition, the candidate will
    gradually transfer new cellular immunology techniques (Elispot, flow cytometry) from the host lab to the
    field laboratory in Tororo, and apply these assays to hypothesis-driven research projects under close
    mentorship from the PI; the incumbent will also contribute to postdoctoral scholar driven projects, and

    medical center as regards control of Hazardous materials; the Senior Technician also assists with
    environmental and occupational monitoring (air, water, vegetation, etc) for analysis; performs instrument

    Graduation from high school or General Education Diploma and two years of experience in an
    environmental health and safety program, or two years of college including appropriate science courses and

    Job Summary
    The University of California Regents has implemented pay reductions and furloughs due to the State of
    California budget crisis. This position may be subject to the pay reductions through August 31, 2010. The
    Department of Medicine is the largest department in the UCSF School of Medicine. Within the larger DOM,
    the Department of Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) is considered the second largest
    department in the School of Medicine (second only to Medicine-Parnassus) with an annual budget of over
    $75.7 million. The Department at SFGH is divided into 14 Divisions and 4 Centers. There are 126 full-time
    paid faculty members, in addition to 8 Gladstone Institute faculty, and more than 100 volunteer clinical and
    Emeritus faculty that are affiliated with the Department. There are also 28 Post Doctoral Scholars and 40
    non-faculty academic positions. There are 477 staff employees, 23 MSP Physician appointments, and 162
    residents and interns that rotate through SFGH. The Department operates more than 33 clinics and logs more
    than 160,848 outpatient encounters annually. The Department manages more than 110,000 assignable square
    feet of space in multiple sites, both on and off campus. In terms of extramural funding, Medicine-SFGH by
    itself (excluding Medicine-Parnassus and the Gladstone Institutes) would be ranked ~30th in the country
    among the Departments of Medicine at the ~125 accredited U.S. medical schools. The Department of
    Medicine Central Administration team at SFGH is responsible for directing the financial, administrative,
    personnel, clinical operations and research administration functions. The HR Analyst is responsible new hire
