The Shidler College of Business Announces Winners of the 2008 UH Business Plan
HONOLULU, HI ‐‐‐ The University of Hawaii at Manoa Shidler College of Business’
Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship and E‐Business (PACE) announced the
winners of the 2008 UH Business Plan Competition last night at an awards banquet at
the Waialae Country Club. More than $60,000 in cash prizes was awarded.
Five teams competed in the final competition. The results are:
Overall Prizes provided by the Shidler College of Business
$20,000 first prize
Donavan Kealoha, Mehrdad Nejhad, Richard Russ, Atul Tiwari and Lee Taylor
NanoGreen, Inc. specializes in nanotechnology research and development in advanced
structural chemicals and materials.
NanoGreen, Inc. is also the winner of a $20,000 UH Technology prize provided by the
UH Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development (OTTED).

SimTraining Hawaii is dedicated to improving patient safety through the use of state‐of‐
the‐art medical simulation‐based training.

Vadim Kostyukhin, Keith Sakuda and Jim Vlahos
ProActive Carbon uses Flash Carbonization technology to provide a sustainable solution
to the accumulation of biofuel/agricultural biowaste.
ProActive Carbon is also the winner of a $5,000 Sustainable Business prize provided by
Hawaiian Electric Company.
$2,000 Top All‐Student Team Prize provided by HiBEAM (Hawaii Business and
Entrepreneur Acceleration Mentors)
