                  Press Release
For immediate release, Dec. 1, 2008:

Coppell Associate Principal Chosen
New Leader Of Carroll High School
School Board Trustees named Paul J. Giamanco as the new principal of Carroll High School in
Southlake. The decision was made during Monday evening’s School Board meeting at Johnson
Elementary School. Giamanco, known to most as “PJ,” is expected to begin his new duties in
January.

Retiring Dawson Middle School Principal Trudie Jackson has been serving as
interim during the fall semester. She began her duties in early September
following the July resignation of Rick Westfall. He left to accept a four-year
principal’s position at Keller High School. A total of 88 applicants were vying
for the top post at CHS.

Giamanco has 10 years of experience in education – seven as a classroom teacher and three as
a campus administrator. He has most recently been serving as Coppell High School’s Associate
Principal. Giamanco was recommended as a finalist by a 26-member campus interview
committee consisting of teachers, parents and central office administrators. The committee’s
finalists were then interviewed by the Superintendent for consideration.

“We are excited to have PJ Giamanco join the Dragon family,” said Superintendent David J.
Faltys. “He comes highly recommended by his colleagues in nearby Coppell, and will inherit a
very positive and supportive staff and parent community at Carroll High School. We’re looking
forward to great things under his leadership.”
A 1998 graduate of Illinois State University, Giamanco earned his Bachelor of Science in
Mathematics. He later received his Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy
Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2005. His career also includes experience as
a classroom teacher and coach at Colleyville Heritage High School.

“I am honored to have been selected to lead Carroll High School,” said Giamanco. “I look forward
to the working with a wonderful faculty as we serve the students at Carroll High School.”

During his tenure in education, Giamanco has been a member of the Texas Association of
Secondary School Principals (TASSP), the National Association of Secondary School Principals,
the Texas Association of Curriculum and Design, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum
Design, the Texas Computer Education Association and the National Staff Development Council.
He is trained in CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and is Gifted and Talented certified.

He was a TASSP Assistant Principal of the Year nominee and has won a number of teaching
awards throughout his career.
