Buzzthebatgirl’s Guide to Spotting a Hacked Pokémon:
Know your Summary Screen; this holds the key to identity of your Pokémon:
This is a guide to helping you spot a hacked Pokémon. In this guide I will point out the most obvious signs of a hacked Pokémon. Some useful terms I will be using include: Hacked Pokémon: A Pokémon obtained by the use of a cheating device such as an Action Replay or ingame glitches. Event Pokémon: A Pokémon obtained through a Nintendo special event. A list o these Pokémon can be found here: http://www.serebii.net/games/events-pkmn.shtml Shadow/ex-shadow/Purified Pokémon: Special Pokémon obtained in Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD on the Gamecube. Ex-shadow Pokémon (also called Purified) Pokémon may have odd moves; this happens in XD, see the link here: http://www.serebii.net/xd/pokemon-attacks.shtml All purified Pokémon have a special ribbon, see the Ribbon feature.
AR: AR stands for Action Replay a type of cheating device used to force Pokémon encounters, make Hacked Pokémon or gain impossible to obtain items. Semi-Legit Pokémon: A Pokémon captured by using a hacked item. For example someone uses an AR to obtain the Azure Flute, they then proceed to use the Azure Flute to unlock the Arceus Event in their game and catch it the regular way. Id number To my knowledge I have never seen a Pokémon game generate an ID number with only 0. Some hacked Pokémon (often made with the help of Pokémon Maker programes) often have the ID number of 00000. Watch out for this and refuse a trade if you see this trainer ID. Area caught and levels Most Pokémon will have a set capture locations. For example Dialga (in Diamond) and Palkia (in Pearl) can only be found on the Spear Pillar at level 47. By knowing where a Pokémon is legally obtained will avoid you being ripped off in a trade. Chatot are found only on Route 222 and 224, this one is a hack I got in a trade as research for this guide. Check out Chatot locations yourself at: http://www.psypokes.com/dex/psydex/441/location Some of the Trainer Memos for Legendary Pokémon are as follows:

This brings me to the Pal Park and its ability to over write some of the trainer memo details. Pal Park This can over write some of the trainer memo details. For this experiment I will do a fresh pal park transfer and note the trainer memos of the six Pokémon both before and after the transfer

As you may have noticed from the following experiment the orginal capture area get over written during the Pal Park transfer. Event Pokémon have their capture areas rewritten as the game area they came from (Hoenn or Kanto). Distant Land is used only when the Pokémon came from the Gamecube Pokémon Colosseum or XD. Moves known: Pokémon have set moves to learn during level up and from the use of TMs and HMs. I once saw a Charizard with the move Tail Glow, after a quick check of Charizard’s move list and knew something was up. It turns out it had the trainer number of 00000 the give away hack ID number. Checking the move lists will keep you a head of the hackers. Useful online Pokédexs include: http://www.psypokes.com/dex/psydex/001/all http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/ http://veekun.com/dex/ Condition: Any Pokémon with maxed out condition in all areas is likely to be hacked or tampered in some way. I think this is imposable without cheats, but if anyone has done it and has proof then please email me
Ribbons owned
Watch out for special Ribbons like the National Ribbon. This Ribbons given to all ex-shadow Pokémon and there are only a select number of them.
This Classic ribbon is on all Cherish Ball Event Pokémon. This Ribbon prevents the Pokémon from entering the GTS, so don’t expect to pick one up in there. Ball of capture An easy way to spot a hacked Pokémon is watching out for the ball of capture. This is visible on the status screen next to the Pokémon’s Nickname. A hacker will generally use a Master Ball to capture Pokémon. Event Pokémon were given away in Pokéballs in the Third Gen games. Now in the Fourth Gen they use Cherish Balls. Also certain Pokémon like the starters can only be obtained in Pokéballs. The exception here is Bayleef, Croconaw and Quilava which can be caught in Master Balls in Pokémon Colosseum. GTS (Global Trade Station): A commonly asked question is: “How can I tell if a Pokémon on the GTS is hacked before I trade for it?”. The sad answer is you can’t tell, until you receive it. The advice I can give to watch the levels of Pokémon, use the able to help you. the other thing is to watch the characters in a Japanese nickname. In Japanese games they are limited to only using 5 letters in the nickname, so count those symbols before trading. If the worse happens and you get a hacked Pokémon I suggest this, put it on offer yourself and ask for the same creature in return. There are millions of traders out there; surely one of them will want to trade with you. Darkrai: The 491st Pokémon given away during the showing of the 10th Pokémon Movie: Dialgia Vs Palkia Vs Darkrai. This is the only legit Darkrai at this present time. The summary is as so:
Name: Level: 50
Ball: Cherish Ball OT: can be either red or blue Or : Katakana (Cinema Name)
: Hiragana (Cinema Name) ID No.: 07147 (Movie Date) Trainer Memo: (Random) Nature. Jul. 14, 2007 Pokémon Movie 07 Apparently had a fateful encounter at Lv. 50. (Random Trainer notes) Battle moves: • Nightmare • Spacial Rend • Hypnosis • Roar of Time Ribbons: Classic Ribbon
Watch out for all for this if you are on the hunt for a movie Darkrai. Don’t except a hack. Only the movie Darkrai will know Spacial Rend (a move known only by Palkia) and Roar of Time (a move known only by Dialgia). It will also have the Classic Ribbon.

A special thanks goes to my Fiancé Thomas, without whose Laptop, Digital Camera and patience none of this would have been possible. Contact me: You can contact me by either sending a Private Message to Buzzthebatgirl on the website www.wiffy.ie or by emailing me at Buzzthebatgirl@hotmail.com. I will reply as soon as I can, but please remember I do not live in front of the computer, I do have this thing called a life. Most of the Pokémon seen in these screenshots are not up for trade, so please do not ask for them. Notice: I do NOT own Pokémon. Pokémon belongs to Nintendo and all the character names belong to Nintendo. This is a fan made guide made to help players of the Video Games Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl on the Nintendo DS System.
