ELIGIBILTY
1. Recipient or their parents must be members in good standing of Marine Credit Union (MCU) as of the scholarship deadline. Membership at MCU can be established with a $5.00 savings deposit. 2. Recipient must be a “full-time” student as determined by their respective schools.
APPLICATION FORMS
Applicants must use the standard Student Application Form available at MCU offices. Forms must be typed or computer word-processed. Applications will not be returned and will become the property of MCU.
SELECTION
An independent committee will select recipients based on the following criteria: the applicants’ academic histories, goals, letters of recommendation, transcripts, needs and extra curricular activities. The decision of the Scholarship Selection Committee is final and not subject to review. The recipient’s high school or college will present the scholarship on a date deemed appropriate.
2009 MCU Scholarship
Marine Credit Union believes in and supports higher education by offering five - $500 scholarships to our members and/or their children. These scholarships are to be representative of our membership and our Credit Union philosophy, “Not for Profit, Not for Charity, But for Service”. Scholarship money will be paid directly to each student’s college or university for tuition, fees and other educational expenses. The money will be paid to the institution based on the academic schedule. Scholarship applicants will be judged on the written essay questions, school and community activities, transcripts and letters of recommendation.
PAYMENTS
Scholarships will be awarded for the following academic year unless otherwise stated. Payments will be sent to the schools and disbursed by them in equal installments based on their school terms (e.g. two installments for semesters, three installments for quarters).

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT AGREEMENT By signing the Scholarship application form, all applicants agree that permission is granted for their names and words to be used in Marine Credit Union’s membership newsletter or other publications.
