Instructions for CEC Profession Development Form
Introduction:
The CEC Professional Development Form consists of a static Excel form as well as The newly integrated
CEC Career Planning Tool which is a method for visually reviewing and planning your career as a CEC Officer.
The CEC Career Planning Tool allows you to graph past and future Billets, Rank Progression and Review
Boards as well as showing time generalized time lines for the school progression of any children have or
        may have in the future.

Getting Started:

        CEC Prof. Development Form:
The CEC Professional Development form allow you a way to Record and sore your CEC Career information
for review and updating as you see fit. Initially you'll want to fill out your "Personal Information" as well as your
"Billet Diversity". These fields are used to graph information on the "CEC Career Planning Tool". You are
also encouraged to fill in future billet information as it will give you u a good idea of what might lie ahead. Other
sections include "Education", "DAWIA", "Professional", Warfare Quals", "Additional Acquisition &
Professional Courses" and a "Remarks" section for miscellaneous information. You are encouraged to fill out
as much information as possible in order to give you a better perspective on your past and future career path.

        CEC Career Planning Tool:
The "CEC Career Planning Tool" is a summary graph of your past current and future career path. It includes
sections on "Career Plan", "Rank" and "Promotion Boards", and an area displaying an estimated breakdown
for your children's schooling (if the information is provided). The graph is generated directly from the data that
you put into the "CEC Prof. Development Form", and the Report Date for your first Billet is required as a
date benchmark before generating any graph.
        IMPORTANT: ENABLING MACROS:
NOTE: The "CEC Career Planning Tool" is a VBA Macro Driven application so you must have Macros
enabled in Excel in order for it to function. If you do not have them enabled you may enable them in the
        following fashion:
                     In Excel 2000/XP
                     1) On the Excel Toolbar go to: Tools >> Macro >> Security
                     2) Choose the Security Level Tab
                     3) Set security to Medium or Low Security (Low is not recommended as it may leave you open to
                     unknown virus intrusion).
NOTE: The Medium Security will prompt you when an Excel Workbook is opened as
to weather you want to run macros. In the case of the "CEC Professional Development Form" you
will want to say Yes. No advise can be given on allowing macros to run for other applications and
the responsibility falls to the user to decide whether other files are safe. If you are unsure do not
allow macros to run unless you trust the application.
                     In Excel 97
                     1) In Excel 97 no such security settings exist and you will be prompted every time a workbook with
Macros is loaded whether or not you want to run them. In the case of the "CEC Prof. Development
Form" you will want you say Yes.
Again, no advise can be given on allowing macros to run for other applications and
the responsibility falls to the user to decide whether other files are safe. If you are unsure do not
allow macros to run unless you trust the application.
Projected Rank Progression:
The "Projected Rank Progression" worksheet allows you to alter the manner in which the "Rank" bar of the
"CEC Career Planning Tool" is displayed. By altering the Month and year Flow Points you can accelerate
or decelerate your rank progression. A set of default values is given and you can reset to the default values
with the given "Reset Defaults" button.
