To: Regional Press From: Taos Center for the Arts, 575-758-2052 Re: TCA Reopening Date: 2/24/09 # # # The Taos Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce the reopening of the Taos Community Auditorium on Friday, March 6! After years of planning, fundraising, destruction and construction, the new lobby, now called the Encore Gallery, will open to welcome the community of northern New Mexico back to the TCA. Join the celebration! At 4:45 come for the ribbon cutting ceremony, then be the first to see new work by world famous artist, Taos’s own, Larry Bell. A reception for “Larry Bell: The Last Women,” a show comprised of sixteen new works, will take place form 5:00-7:00p.m. in the Encore Gallery. Larry is a long time supporter of the Taos Center for the Arts and is delighted to kick off the opening of this new and vibrant space in downtown Taos. The reception will be catered by Taos Restaurant Group and the bar provided by The Historic Taos Inn. Next we will move into the theatre for an evening of Taos Talent as performing artists return to the stage. Longtime TCA friend and Grammy Award winning artist, Robert Mirabal will grace the Auditorium with his unique performance of traditional and modern native flute and voice. Local favorite stage gypsies and troupers will continue the performance with a tribute to musical theatre followed by a finale of local dancers of and for all ages. The evening promises to be a wonderful celebration of the old and the new as our venerable Taos Community Auditorium will once again be alive with the talented performing and visual artists of Taos. This is a free event for all ages, but donations for future TCA programs will be gratefully accepted.
