The Ambatovy Project is a large-tonnage nickel and cobalt project located in Madagascar with annual production capacity
estimated at 60,000 tonnes of nickel, 5,600 tonnes of cobalt and approximately 190,000 tonnes of ammonium sulphate; and an
estimated Project life of 27 years.


                                Senior Maintenance Planner

An exciting opportunity exists within our Madagascar operations for a Senior Maintenance Planner within the
Toamasina plant facilities. This successful candidate will work in Madagascar as a rotational expatriate and have
the unique opportunity of being involved in the start up and production of one of the largest nickel and cobalt
projects in the world.

Purpose of the Role
   Responsible for the planning of the commissioning activities for the area assigned.
   Responsible for the planning and scheduling of breakdown, preventative, predictive, and condition based
    maintenance activities of the process plant, utilities, mobile equipment, light vehicles and port facilities.
   Responsible for the skill development of the trade and the knowledge transfer to the local national’s
    maintenance planning team.
       Responsible for the development and the implementation of the specific training.
       Set the performance criteria expected from the maintenance planning team with the Chief
        Maintenance Planning..
       Measure individual performance.
       Coach and mentor the local national’s maintenance planning team to meet expected performance
        criteria.


Position Profile
Reporting to Chief Maintenance Planner, the Senior Maintenance Planner is responsible for providing
maintenance planning and scheduling support for all the Plant areas. In this position you will work with a
planning team to effectively manage and coordinate breakdown, preventative, predictive, and condition based
maintenance activities. You will also assist in the development and monitoring of short and long-term
planning strategies. This position interacts strongly with Operations, Procurement and Engineering
Departments.

Prior and during Commissioning and Start-Up

   Responsible for the planning and scheduling of all the commissioning activities of the assigned area.
   Participate in defining, implementing and supporting maintenance & reliability processes, standards and
    templates that will be used during operations mode.
   Gather and integrate in the CMMS all information required (asset, parts, job plans, pm procedures) which
    will be paramount for the first cycle (planning, scheduling and execution).
Once in Operations
  Coordinate and administer day to day maintenance planning and scheduling activities
  Assist maintenance area planners in the analysis of work requests from area departments and help in
   determining who should perform the work ( maintenance personnel, contractors or engineering)
  Coordinate with Materials Planner to ensure all required spare parts, materials and contract services are
   corresponding with the scope of all work orders (breakdown, preventative, predictive and condition
   based).
  Ensure coordination of labor resources and equipment availability to support the maintenance function in
   the areas of breakdown, preventative, predictive and condition based maintenance.
  Assist maintenance area planners in scheduling and monitoring trades personnel’s daily activities for
   assigned tasks;
  Champion the objectives of cost, schedule, safety, and quality for maintenance activities;
  Assist in the development and ensure the monitoring of the department's Key Performance Indicators
   (KPIs)
  Manage work backlog into work plan;
  Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System and produce standard reports as required.
   Includes recording machinery/equipment repair history, generating reports and historical data for
   analyzing performance statistics and trends;
  Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance Assessments.
  Ensure and sustain the professional development of the expertise in planning and scheduling practices

Qualifications
   Degree in Engineering, or technologist or trades background with a minimum of five (5) years of
    maintenance supervision and/or planning experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
   Min 5 years progressive experience as plant maintenance planner/scheduler for breakdown,
    preventative, predictive, and condition based maintenance activities
   Preference will be given to candidates that have experience in a maintenance engineering role
    associated with maintenance planning on large oil refining facilities or petrochemical plants (process
    plants)
   Experience defining and implementing maintenance & reliability processes will be an asset
   Experience in planning, budgeting, estimation are a must
   MS Project high to expert level.
   Proven experience with CMMS (INFOR EAM or similar)
   Knowledge about how to run interfaces between CMMS and Project scheduling tools would be an asset
   Appropriate technical qualifications and experience as describe above
   Mobility, fitness and ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team
   Demonstrated track record of training and developing local nationals to assume positions of greater
    responsibility in the organization
    Results driven and self motivated
   Fluency in English and French is a definite asset
