Radio Audience Measurement In order to reflect today’s changing media landscape Nielsen Media Research, have implemented some enhancements to the radio audience measurement process of which were in place from Survey 1, 2009. Key Enhancements introduced this year in the Metropolitan markets include: The use of a modernised A4Sticker vs. the pre-listed stations – this will cater for the additional Digital radio stations. Platform capture – we can now capture data on how people are listening whether it is via an AM/FM radio, live streaming online or using a Digital radio. 24 hour capture across all surveys (includes regional) – it’s an untapped revenue / client opportunity. New recruitment method – Random selection using the Last Birthday Method, where one person is recruited per home providing greater data quality control. Campaign on-air! It’s the radio you know and love plus....The Digital Radio Plus $10 million dollar on-air awareness campaign is about to begin. The first phase in the campaign will be a tease tactic introducing the digital radio brand to listeners. Phase two will outline the new capabilities and benefits of digital radio and generate excitement in preparation for a Mothers’ Day retail promotion. Phase three will drive the usage of digital radio as the switch-on takes place and promote a simultaneous five state capital “Listener Event”.

Siren rounds are bi-monthly with an Annual Awards ceremony held in May to announce the overall Gold Siren winner. PROMOTIONAL IDEA That’s Dicey The Announcer is in charge of the listener’s fate by rolling the dice. The prize can always remain the same, for example $5000 or a year’s worth of petrol - but what the listener does in order to win the cash will be determined by whether the dice comes up as odds or evens. An even number can be something simple such as singing on-air, but an odd number would be more challenging – like swimming with sharks or eating an exotic delicacy! This will test how far some listener’s will go to win the cash.

Effectiveness of Radio + Online research A number of advertisers partnered with Commercial Radio Australia to demonstrate through case studies that commercial radio is effective driving audiences to engage online and directly respond to radio campaigns Over 80% of people who hear a relevant radio commercial referring to a website have visited a website as a result. Commercial Radio generated an increase of 145% of page impressions to a company’s website during a four week radio campaign for an iconic finance brand.
