PROJECT BACKGROUND: The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), in conjunction with the Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA), has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Route 72 Manahawkin Bay Bridges Project.
The Environmental Assessment will be available for review through July 1, 2010 at the Ocean County Library System
Headquarters, Toms River, NJ; Long Beach Island Branch, Surf City, NJ; Stafford Township Branch Library, Manahawkin, NJ;
Clerks Office of Stafford Township ; Ship Bottom Borough; Surf City Borough; Barnegat Light Borough; Beach Haven Borough,
Harvey Cedars; Long Beach Township; and Ocean County Clerk's Office in Toms River, NJ. Information about the project is
available online at http://www.state.nj.us/transportation/works/environment/. A CD-ROM version of the Environmental Assessment
or a hard copy of the Executive Summary can be obtained by making a written request to:

PUBLIC HEARING: A Public Hearing will be held to provide interested individuals with the opportunity to testify about the effects of
the proposed project and the preferred alternative. The Public Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 2:00 P.M.
to 6:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the Stafford Township Municipal Building, 260 E. Bay Avenue, Manahawkin, New Jersey.
An information center will run concurrently from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The Draft EA presentation boards and photo-simulations
depicting the alternatives will be available for review in the lobby during the Public Hearing and project team members will be
available to answer questions. At the Public Hearing, testimony may be given by the following means:
Oral testimony transcribed by a stenographer or
Written testimony submitted by letter or completing a blank form
Registration is required to give oral testimony. You may register upon arrival at the Public Hearing location by signing in on the day
of the hearing beginning at 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Oral testimony will be limited to five minutes to ensure everyone has an
opportunity to speak.
Written statements may also be submitted to the NJDOT at the address provided above or at the public hearing. Written
statements may also be submitted in support of your oral testimony at the hearing. Comments received in the mail prior to July 1,
2010 will be included in the public record.
Take Route 72 to Route 9 North, make a right onto E. Bay Avenue, 260 Bay Avenue will be on the left.
