UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH The Goal: Graduation Graduation Planner will • Provide students with complete information to plan courses, meet requirements, and graduate. • Create opportunities for adviser dialogue with students UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH The Challenge: A lot of information, many sources • Course information in several interactive systems • 4-year planning tools are static and in multiple formats • Graduation requirements are in multiple formats Creating plans is complex, comparing is difficult UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH The Solution: Innovation and Integration • Integrate course, student, and academic program information from departments, colleges, and central systems (APAS, PeopleSoft, PCAS, ECAS) Create one attractive, intuitive, and accessible tool UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH The Results: Graduation Planner • A Web-based planning tool – Students plan the courses they need, when they need to take them – Advisers view plans and communicate with students • A commitment to keep students on track to graduate on time UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH Student Main Page shows declared programs, student ID, college, adviser name, adviser committee (if applicable), UM GPA, APAS GPA (includes Message transfer), credits and in automatically progress credits displays to undeclared students at 45 credits to declare. Succeed. • Students explore and compare majors by creating multiple plans • One plan is the student’s “favorite plan” • The process inspires dialogue between adviser and student UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH Student with multiple plans Can have multiple plans but only 1 can be called “my favorite.” This means “plan I am following."
