PLANNER’S NEW PLANNER S GUIDE FOR CAIRNS & GBR EVENTS
Cairns & Region Convention Bureau has officially launched its Meeting and Incentive Planners’ Guide 2007 – 2008. This comprehensive guide showcases the easily accessible Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region and offers vital information on the range of high quality business tourism product now available to help conference organisers in their planning and decision making. It explains how business events in Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region benefit from the seamless integration of the destination’s superb natural experiences with its numerous professional suppliers. This is a tropical location with a sophisticated edge that knows how to get business tourism events just right. Tourism Tropical North Queensland chief executive officer Rob Giason said business tourism continues to grow as an important sector of the Tropical North Queensland tourism industry with current estimates showing around 70,000 business tourism delegates deciding to “Change their business latitude” by coming here each year. “This is an outstanding achievement for a regional destination, but something that is not really surprising considering the level of facilities available here, such as the world class Cairns Convention Centre and a host of other high standard venues, a range of on the ground support services, high quality accommodation, cuisine, spa and indulgence choices and a diverse array of tours and attractions for delegates to enjoy during their event and for pre and post-event touring,” Mr Giason said. “We are welcoming more and more high profile events to Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region and many are returning here for second and third events. One big attraction is our ability to offer various conference and event locations within the one destination, in Cairns and also Palm Cove, Port Douglas and beyond.” “The profile of Cairns and Great Barrier Reef as an important national and international business tourism destination was underlined at the Planner’s Guide launch with the inclusion of messages of support from both the Federal Minister for Tourism, Fran Bailey, and the Queensland Minister for Tourism, Margaret Keech. The launch itself was carried out by the Mayor of Cairns, Kevin Byrne, as head of Cairns City Council, which is a great supporter of both business and holiday tourism in this region.” …/2
