Coaching to attain increased performance standards, allowing officers to make decisions and take ownership of those decisions, as well as using the technology that's available in the performance of assigned duties are ways that supervisors can proactively combat chaotic shifts. Within the last 10 to 15 years, correctional facilities and local detention centers have really come of age with the introduction of electronically controlled doors, the use of computers, and the advancement to the direct supervision style of inmate management.
