Artwork PNG Specifications Submitting Electronic files to BNI-WNY BNI - WNY will need a print quality (300dpi) logo from the Venue Site. The logo needs to be in an Interlaced PNG format. This allows us the greatest flexibility in designing a postcard for your event. We cannot accept a logo in PDF, JEPG, or Illustrator, Photoshop or other file formats as we do not have the capability to convert them to a PNG file. In addition, we cannot accept a logo that has been downloaded or saved from a company’s website, as the resolution is typically not good enough to be printed on a commercial press. Look at the samples below. Notice in sample one how the circle seems to be seen through the logo. This is called an interlaced file. It allows the rest of the artwork to be seen and printed properly. In sample two, the logo has a white square around it, blocking the rest of the artwork. This creates problems when the card is designed, and why we must insist on a interlaced png file. Sample 1 Sample 2 Resolution Graphics prepared for upload should be 300 dpi at 100% of the final print size. Higher resolution means a more detailed image, and also larger file and longer upload time. CMYK vs. RGB CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) are the colors used in the printing process, whereas RGB (Red, Green and Blue) are the colors used by screen displays such as your monitor. Please note that JPEG files are almost always in RGB and cannot be used. Graphics should be created in CMYK mode so that the colors that you see on the screen most closely match the final printed product. If you create your document in RGB, the colors in your printed product may vary slightly. Many of the bright values produced by your monitor cannot be reproduced in print. Aspect Ratio The aspect ratio of your image can be determined by dividing the image’s width by its height. If your image’s aspect ratio is not equal to the aspect ratio of our documents, your image may appear stretched or distorted when it is scaled to fit.
