Re: It’s All Greek To Me
Premises: 557 High Street
City/Town: Dedham, MA 02026
Heard: June 27, 2007
This was an appeal from the action of the licensing board of the Town of Dedham
in denying the application for a wine and malt license to It’s All Greek To Me.
The local board decision dated May 11, 2007 stated, “the Board determined that the
public need for a license, in a particular location, is met with the three existing licenses
located within close proximity.”
The chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Carmen Delloiacono testified that
Isabella’s, Dedham Community Theatre and Centre Street Deli are within 100 feet of the
applicant. He also stated that there are 2 available wine and malt pouring licenses.
Sevasti Toula Sfougaristos, the owner of It’s All Greek To Me, testified that she
opened the 16-seat restaurant in December and applied for a wine and malt license in
November. The Commission is not persuaded that there is no public need for the license.
This is the only Greek restaurant in the square and one of the other licenses is in a movie
Therefore, the Commission disapproves the action of the local board in denying a
license and remands the matter with the suggestion that the license be issued.
