IV. GOVERNANCE
Members of the Board and their brief background
      The A.V.Charities was established in 1806 by the five philanthropic families of
Anbanathapuram. Enathimangalam, Pallavarayanpet, Karugudi and Kanganamputhur. The
A.V.Charities had been serving the cause of religion and philanthropy for about 200 years.

        A.V.C Education Committee composition of the Society. The A.V.C. Education committee
previously known as A.V.C. College Committee is a Registered Society under the societies
Registration Act XXI Of 1860 as S.No 9 of 1955. The object for which the committee is established
is to found, establish, endow, construct, provide, maintain, institutions in the Taluk of
Mayiladuthurai for the promotion of literature. Science or for the fine arts, technical or professional
education or for the diffusion of useful knowledge, provision of necessary buildings and equipments
or hostels for the students who are studying in the A.V.C. College, Mayiladuthurai or its sister
technical and professional institutions.

      The A.V.C.College was founded in 1955 and A.V.C.C.Polytechnic in 1983 and marked
through significant milestones in the history of A.V. Charities which is committed for the
upliftment of the downtrodden and welfare of the society by imparting quality education.
       The A.V.C. College of Engineering, was established in 1996 with an aim of imparting
technical education and training the students to cope up with the latest technological
advancements and to enable the youngsters to compete with others in the global up gradation.

        Every teacher is required to maintain an 'ATTENDANCE AND ASSESSMENT RECORD'
which consists of attendance marked in each lecture or practical or project work class, the test marks
and the record of class work (topic covered), separately for each course. This should be submitted to
the Head of the department periodically (at least three times in a semester) for checking the syllabus
coverage and the records of test marks and attendance. The Head of the department will put his
signature and date after due verification. At the end the semester, the record should be verified by
the Head of the institution who will keep this document in safe custody. The university or any
inspection team appointed by the University may inspect the records of attendance and assessment of
both current and previous semesters.
