Yearbook Application Forms
Yearbook is a class open to a select group of individuals who are self-motivated and responsible. You do not have to have any previous yearbook experience. Admittance is by application and recommendation only. Only students who demonstrate responsible academic habits need apply. Each staff member has a specific position and job to complete. Staff members (layout and photographers) will do the following during the course of the year: Research given layout topics Write articles, captions, and headlines Make all due dates and deadlines Characteristics that you must possess in order to be considered for yearbook: Timeliness Dependability Writing Skills Attention to Detail Creativity Ability to work well with individuals and groups Ability to plan ahead and complete tasks In order to be selected for the staff you must meet the following requirements: If you have (or are) taken journalism or Photo I/II, you must have passed with a B or higher. You must have passed your most recent English class with a B or higher. English and writing skills are essential to creating an excellent yearbook. You must meet the district’s attendance policy. You must display a positive attitude toward your school. The following items must be completed and returned to Ms. Schulder in room 505 ASAP: The attached application A journalistic report of 100 words or less on a fictitious event (i.e. sports game, dance, current event topic, etc.) 2-3 of your best photographs, if applying for a photography position (candids, sports, portraits, etc.). 3 teacher recommendations: one teacher recommendation completed by your current or most recent English teacher, one from your photo or journalism teacher (if applicable), and one more by a teacher of your choice.

As a yearbook staffer, whether you are on layout or photography, one of your most important jobs is to write a story on the page assignment that you are given. Using the photograph on the last page, write a basic description of what you see in the photo and compile a list of questions you would need to ask in order to give your readers more information.
Part II Photographer’s Application

As a photographer, you will be shooting and scanning many pictures for the yearbook layouts, as well as editing your photos. Please select 2-3 of your best color and/or black and white pictures of a person or people. One of them must include a sports or “action” shot. It must be no smaller than a 3x5. The picture is to give us an idea of what your capabilities are as a photographer.
