                           Naming Rights sponsor of Indy 300

Brisbane, January 23, 2003 – Queensland Premier Peter Beattie today announced Lexmark as
the new Naming Rights sponsor of the Indy 300 on Queensland's Gold Coast in a four-year,
multi-million dollar agreement.

Queensland's premier annual Event will now be known as the Lexmark Indy 300, with the 2003
edition to be held from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 October on the streets of Surfers Paradise.

Lexmark is a global technology leader dedicated solely to printing solutions. It's this sole focus
that has driven the company's success and status as an industry leader and is why Lexmark is
renowned for its printing innovations and product reliability.

Mr Beattie said the announcement of Lexmark as the new Naming Rights sponsor of the Indy
300 was the perfect way for the event to wave the green flag on 2003.

"Having the support of an innovative global company that has achieved great success in the
printing market will provide a tremendous platform for Indy to continue its remarkable growth,"
said Beattie.

Deputy Premier, Treasurer, and Sports Minister Terry Mackenroth said both the Lexmark Indy
300 and Lexmark will celebrate their 13th years in 2003, and there will be further celebrations
after a record crowd of 300,000 comes through the gates this year.

He said the Lexmark Indy 300 had grown to such a level that the three millionth spectator was
expected over the 13-year history to walk through the gates on the Sunday of this year's Event.

"The Indy carnival has grown into one of the world's premier motor racing events," Mr
Mackenroth said. "Many from across Australia now make it an annual pilgrimage. The State
Government has always been a huge supporter of the event and year in year out we put our
money where our mouth is.

"Last year, we contributed almost $11 Million dollars towards staging the event and organisers
continue to prove to us that it is money well spent. We estimate that it generates more than
175,000 visitor nights in Queensland and has triggered economic benefits from $9.5 Million in
1991 to more than $50 Million last year.

"It also delivers an employment boost, creating more than 700 jobs across several industries.

"The race is also broadcast to a potential international audience of more than 700 Million people
in more than 190 countries, which is excellent exposure for Queensland."

Lexmark and the Indy 300 form a great union, said Lexmark Indy 300 Chairman John Cowley.
"Lexmark has a strong commitment to innovation, technology, colour and performance which
have been the ingredients to its operational and financial success over its 13-year history.

"This fits in with CART's focus on innovation and technology, as well as the tremendous
showcase of colour and performance on and off the track." Cowley said the announcement of a
Naming Rights sponsor only months after the expiration of the previous sponsor's contract
proves the event's marketplace value.

"We had a number of interested parties which made it a tough decision but Lexmark provided
substantial qualities that will enable the Event to go to a new level," said Cowley. "We are
expecting another bumper year with such a leading and innovative company on board as
Naming Rights sponsor."

Lexmark Managing Director, Henrik Stensfeldt, said the Indy 300 was the natural vehicle for
Lexmark to invest its sponsorship dollars into. "The qualities of Indy are very similar to those of
Lexmark and there are many synergies between us," said Stensfeldt.

the latest technological developments to stay ahead of the competition. Lexmark owns its

In 2002 the event was inducted into the Queensland Tourism Awards Hall of Fame for the third
year running, showcasing its tourism value to the state.

This year the 'Double Header' will take top billing at the Lexmark Indy 300 featuring the Champ
Cars (19th round of the Bridgestone presents the Champ Car World Series powered by Ford)
and the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge (11th round of the Australian V8 Supercar
Championship Series).

The Lexmark Indy 300 will also continue to drive a massive on- and off-track entertainment
program that will feature support motor events, the Bartercard Miss Indy, nightclub parties,
equine events, car shows, surf lifesaving, barbecues, family days, sailing, parades, themed
