AFRIGROWTH FOUNDATION

Enhancing Community Development

Please read the following information before completing the Mentor Application Form.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND

The AfriGrowth Mentoring Program is designed to nurture the development, productivity and overall

success of young Nigerians through the formation of a mentor relationship with suitable and more

experienced Adults and Professionals. When the Mentoring programme starts, more than 30 youths and

mentors would participate in the programme. Mentors would be drawn from the Public and Private sector,

National Assembly, Civil Society etc. The programme is designed for fresh university graduates and

corpers.

PROGRAM TIMELINE

Participation in the Mentoring Program requires a one-month commitment. The program will officially

begin with an orientation in April and will officially end June 31st, 2006. The mentor and mentee will

mutually decide and coordinate their meeting schedules throughout the one month period.

MENTORING APPLICATION

The Mentoring Application is to be completed by interested Youths [fresh graduates or serving youth

corpers] and submitted through the email by March 5, 2008; applicants are to ask their referees to send

a covering email stating why they should be admitted into the programme. It is the responsibility of the

applicant to ensure that their referee sends in this email. Emails from referees are to have the applicants

name as the subject line.

ESSAY

The essay will help the Mentoring Program Application Review Committee to decide

on your application. Applicants are to write a 250 word essay about themselves and

another 250 word essay on what they know about mentoring, their expectations and

future projections. Please feel free to include any additional information that you

feel might help the committee decide on your applications in the essay. Please note

that your profile will be sent to your prospective mentor.

MANDATORY ORIENTATION/WORKSHOP

In April, a mandatory orientation will be held for both mentors and mentees to learn the specifics of the

program. The orientation will provide valuable information about the operation of the program so that

both mentors and mentees understand their commitments and how to gain the most from the match.

Important program materials will be distributed and thoroughly explained at this time. Attendance at the

orientation is required for participation in the program.

LEGAL WAIVER AGREEMENT

The program requires each mentee to sign an agreement to ensure legal protection and confidentiality.

The form will be distributed at the April orientation and should be submitted to AfriGrowth by the end of

the orientation/workshop same day.

FEEDBACK FORMS

At the end of the one month period, both the mentor and mentee are required to

complete and submit to AfriGrowth Foundation a feedback form about the progress of

the relationship. The confidential form alerts the foundation of any concerns with the

match helps the foundation make future improvements to the program and is part of the

information considered when selecting the outstanding matches to be honored as the

best mentor and mentee within the programme.
