be in an alpha state, which is the frequency required for improving energy healing, self-healthcare, self-
hypnosis, physical activities in the athletic fields, etc. In this lecture, Dr. Hiraoka will demonstrate how to
generate Cosmo Power. It is very easy to learn this energy method. It is just like playing games with your

Lee Holden of PBS - KQED

Lee Holden first discovered the healing power of QiGong and tai chi after
experiencing injuries that nearly sidelined his Varsity Soccer career at the
University of California, Berkeley. Impressed at how these ancient practices
healed his body and allowed him to return to playing, he made their study a
priority. Today, he is an internationally known instructor in meditation, tai chi, and
QiGong, as well as a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist, and author (7 Minutes of
Magic, Penguin 2007). His popular library of Qi  Gong  DVD’s have made him a
regular fixture on American Public Television and over 105 PBS stations throughout the U.S.and
Canada. Lee's unique QiGong programs have been seen by millions of viewers and in over 50 million
households. His mother Karen practices and leads QiGong exercises with Lee in “QiGong for Seniors”.

The presentation will summarize the latest research advances in the investigation of the biological
mechanisms of highly effective practices of TCM, including pulse diagnosis revealing the functional state
of not just the heart, but the respiratory and autonomic nervous systems; acupuncture relieving pain and
regulating cardiovascular functions through stimulation of the endorphin and nitrous oxide pathways and
signaling through the connective tissue planes; Tai Chi and Qigong fighting stress, improving mental
concentration, boosting the immune system, increasing blood flow, and elevating body energy measured
as heat, light, and electricity; low level bioelectric field promoting wound healing and other cellular
functions; herbal ingredients cooperatively hitting multiple targets; and compounds isolated from botanical
sources working as powerful drugs.

This very complex subject is one of the primary goals in Qi Gong practice. This presentation is for the
novice and the advanced practitioners of Qi Gong. We would be looking at the simplest way of defining
Happiness and how to set our goals to achieve its pinnacle. In understanding the internal and external
influences on our body, we can explore simple ways to make paradigm shifts. We would be looking at
anatomy and physiology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Qi Gong. The practice session would be on
Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qi Gong exercise selections.
