Fan Based Ultimately the news we're putting together is for you. So please feel free to comment on any of our stories. Give us a shout If you have a news article, story, or update you'd like to have us cover then please drop us an email: HERE 5 Quick “Properties” that should continue on, web2.0 style… INDIANA JONES Yes, Harrison Ford is getting old, but that doesn’t mean that Indiana Jones the property is as well. Just look at James Bond as a property; they have nearly finished production on more than 20 Bond films with a total of six different actors who’ve played bond. In addition to the movies there are books, games, and much more. Our take on Indiana Jones is that it would work well as an audiobook podcast either in individual adventures or a serialized longer adventure with pdf chapter downloads that could include maps, secret clues and other fun easter egg style tidbits for the hard core fans. While you could give it a full vocal staff, the strength of the property and fan base wouldn’t require it. A single individual could read Dr. Jones each week much like Escapepod. As an added bonus, the audio-book approach would allow you to open up the doors for fan submitted stories that you could read as well. If you’d like to get a taste of what were talking about, why not try going HERE FARSCAPE While rumors persist of continuing Farscape by way of ten minute webisodes over on the scifi channel we believe that there is a huge fan following for Farscape that lends its self to a built in audience. While it would be very easy for a “cast” of ’scapers to set up shop and podcast audio dramas that take place before the end of the series during the high points of the best episodes of each season, the true gem of Farscape lies in a completely new and serialized story with a full dedicated staff that includes sound effects, pdf downloads of each episode and a larger pdf book by the end of the podcast. Writing stories that appeal to Farscape, StarWars, and Star Trek fans will triple this podcasts fan base. BLADE Search While some may consider Blade to be a Marvel Comics second stringer born to die at the fangs of Dracula, the three full length motion pictures (particularly one and two which did phenomenal straight to dvd sales), and the television series leads us to believe that there are plenty of day walker fans out there. The thing about Blade is, as a comic book, he’s never done well. Blade comic books don’t sell. We believe this has to do with the fact that he’s a vampire hunter and there are hundreds (if not thousands) of them out there in fiction land. The thing the series did so well, and the first movie hinted at, is the “Crime Boss” element to Blade. What ever medium you choose to produce Blade content in (visual will make the most of red vampire blood) treat him like Vic Makey the tormented Detective-Intelligence officer of the Farmington District police department. Every day is filled with tedious and torturous administrative duties as Blade jockey’s to keep his underground intelligence network alive and functioning. Only those close enough to Blade know how heavy the battle with the Vampires ways on him. Every evening is filled with tracking, hunting, and killing Vampires in the name of a society that thinks Vampires are a myth and Blade a serial killer. HIGHLANDER Lets face it. None of the Highlander sequels did all that great. Did you know that each and every Highlander movie had been “interfered” with by the U.S. studio that released it. The first movie had a crucial scene cut from the U.S. release. The second was rewritten to include the mention of aliens and other planets all because it was believed that the U.S. audience couldn’t accept the fact that Immortals just existed without explanation. Highlander; with four feature films, a cable telefilm, a primary television series that ran six season, a spin off television series that lasted a season, and a cartoon set in Immortal future, multiple comic books, and novels , is the property that will not die and will surely do well as a podcast, a series of webisodes, flash fiction or anything else you can think of. For our money, focus on the Watchers and the Quickening, while taking the best of all the Highlander properties and making them all your own. There can be only one… GARGOYLES Like Highlander, Blade, and Indiana Jones this property has a secret time traveling element to its core concept as the gargoyles are hundreds of years old and just now coming out of a magical exile as solid stone. Unlike the other three its tailor made for a younger audience. Design a few “younglings” as well as a few young human friends and you’ll clean up as you attract all of those kids who spend hundreds of dollars each year purchasing Harry Potter, The Spiderwick Chronicles, and Narnia books.
