downloaded from the Registry website at http://www.ucl.ac.uk/Registry/Examiners.

Fees are authorised by the Registry and paid to External Examiners via B.A.C.S by the Payroll Office,
Human Resources Division. Income Tax will be deducted at the current basic rate. Please note that it is
important to submit a completed Personal Details Form to the Policy Officer (Examiners) for each year of
service in order to ensure that up-to-date contact and banking details are passed on to the Payroll Office.

*Please complete a separate form for each Board of Examiners for which you acted as a External Examiner if
you examined different programme components for different Boards of Examiners; however if you examined
exactly the same set of course-units/components for several different Boards there is no need to complete a
separate form for each one.

For your report on Programme Content and the Examination Process, please attach a
separate sheet covering points 1(a)-(h) below, drawing attention to any areas of particular
concern, or which you would like to commend. In addition, please complete the questionnaire
section 2, Examination, Awards and Standards.

Your comments will be copied to the Chair of the Board of Examiner(s) to which you have been
appointed, and (where there is a distinction between the two) to the Chair of the relevant Faculty
Board of Examiners. If you have drawn attention to matters with implications for UCL as a whole
and/or matters which raise serious issues, your report will also be copied to the Chair of the UCL
Board of Examiners.


1.     Programme Content and the Examination Process

       ∗(a)    the balance and content of the degree programme, as manifested in the examination
               process, in relation to stated programme objectives;

       ∗(b)    the balance and content of programmes of study followed by individual students,
               where comment is appropriate;

       ∗(c)    coherence of programmes and the appropriateness of compulsory course-
               units/components in relation to stated programme objectives;

       (d)     suitability of methods and adequacy of teaching as reflected in the work presented by
               candidates;

       (e)     performance of candidates (including their proficiency in the use of English where
               applicable);

       (f)     appropriateness of methods of assessment and the balance between them, including
               nature, spread and level of the questions;

       (g)     quality of assessment including the application of the assessment criteria ∗and the
               scheme for the award of honours/(or on a Master's degree or Diploma the scheme for
               the award of pass and distinction);

       (h)     whether    suggestions/comments       made    by   you    last   year   were   considered.
