Subject: PRIORITIES FOR FORM V ANNUAL EXAMINATION The following are the themes which should be given priority for the annual Examination for Forms V which is due to be held in February 2008. The whole syllabus then needs to be covered for SEC examination purposes. GEOGRAPHY GENERAL – One lesson a week for all Form V classes. Textbook – Interactions See Scheme of Work Topics –
1, 7, 8, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 24 – Ten topics
Note carefully: In covering these topics more emphasis should be given to the Maltese and Mediterranean environment. For this reason, teachers should also follow the new SEC Environmental Studies Syllabus, especially Themes 1 and 2 besides referring to the introduction to the scheme of work provided to them. GEOGRAPHY OPTION – 4 lessons a week in the Junior Lyceums A. Map Reading and Interpretation B. Weather and Climate (Revision work for topic covered during Form III) – Factors affecting temperature; Types of rainfall; Depressions; Anticyclones and Weather Maps. C. Human & Environmental Issues Textbooks - The New Wider World/ Longman Geography for GCSE Environmental Issues - Acid Rain; Global Warming; Soil Erosion and Management; Deforestation; Desertification; Wetlands. Population (Revision work for topic covered during Form III)- Distribution and Density; Population Growth and Structures; Case study Brazil.
