SPECIALTY TOOLS ELIMINATE
New tapping tools from Wilson Tool International
(White Bear Lake, MN) achieve lean manufacturing
goals by eliminating secondary threading operations.
Manufactured by DK Technologies (Placentia, CA),
they tap a threaded hole with every machine stroke
(up to 200 holes per minute). Accurate threads are
produced at any programmed location on the sheet.
Taps change easily with no disassembly required. A
spring loaded retention system allows quick replacement of the tapping module with no tools required. A built-in tapping fluid injection system
is synchronized with the machine stroke to reduce wear and breakage and will tap up to 40,000 holes without refilling. External grease and
oil ports make tool lubrication simple. Available for most brands of turret style punch presses. A high-lubricity die insert and Wilson’s exclusive
Nitrex® enhanced punch plate helps prevent sheet scratching. Taps are made from powdered high-speed steel for greater strength and
wear resistance, and are coated with a titanium aluminum nitride coating (TiAIN) to increase lubricity and reduce wear in tough materials.
GRINDING & FINISHING
FLAP DISCS GRIND AND FINISH IN ONE STEP
Big Cat® abrasive flap discs from Weiler Corporation (Cresco, PA) grind and finish in one step for
weld blending, grinding, deburring, deflashing, stock removal, surface finishing and blending, and
edge chamfering where long life and conformity are needed. They last 30-40 percent longer than
standard flap discs. Their thickness and larger flaps conform to curved and irregular surfaces to help
reduce gouging and undercutting. High density Type 27 configuration adds flexibility for smoother
grinding action and lowers operator fatigue. High cut rate and finish quality are maintained throughout
the life of flap discs because multiple layers of coated abrasive material expose sharp, fresh grains
as they slowly wear away. Available in 4½ in and 7 in sizes, with or without a 5/8-11 nut. These
phenolic-backed discs are available in both aluminum oxide and zirconium.

FEATURES TO EXTEND TOOL LIFE
Metabo Corporation (West Chester, PA) offers the WE14-150 Quick 6 in compact angle grinder that incorporates advanced motor
protection with current interruption protection, thermal overload protection, electronic speed stabilization and an electronic soft start, to
significantly extend tool life. The long lasting 12.2 A motor is ideal for heavy duty cutting and grinding applications in metal working and
mechanical maintenance. Unique Cool Flow technology, an improved and sonically balanced fan coupled with better venting
and more efficient internal ducting, results in a 15 percent increase in air flow over the motor. The tool-less wheel
change system saves time when replacing wheels. The Vibratech (MVT) side handle reduces
vibration up to 60 percent to increase user comfort over long work periods and reduce
the risk of white finger syndrome. Dual grip zones and a 'racket' grip design ensure
secure operation at all times. The grinder weighs 6.3 lb and has an effective dust
protection system with an encapsulated on/off switch, double-lipped labyrinth
sealed bearings, a unique dust-deflecting winding protection grid and epoxy
coated field coil windings. The grinder offers 1,400 W of power, 31 in-lb of
torque and a no-load speed of 9,000 rpm. Comes with a wheel guard,
inner flange, outer 'Quick' flange nut and flange kit for mounting both
type 1 and type 27 wheels.
