At the end of April 2009, British Airways (BA) launched a package of measures to help UK SME's who are involved in exporting to beat the recession and reduce their costs by offering 5,000, free return flight tickets. The scheme has taken some time to develop, but the author understands from BA that there are still some free tickets available. However, as BA has now started to promote this scheme via television advertising, there may be a run on free tickets. This is the first television campaign they have run in two years. They had been dealing with the Commercial Officers based at the British Embassy in Japan.
