Evaluation of Transit Signal Priority Using Observed and Simulated Data

THIS STUDY QUANTITATIVELY EVALUATES THE IMPACTS OF THE SOUTH SNOHOMISH REGIONAL TRANSIT SIGNAL PRIORITY (SS-RTSP) SYSTEM IN WASHINGTON STATE, USA, ON BOTH TRANSIT AND LOCAL TRAFFIC OPERATIONS BASED ON FIELD DATA AND SIMULATION MODELS. THE EVALUATION RESULTS SHOW THAT THE SS-RTSP SYSTEM PRODUCES SUBSTANTIAL BENEFITS TO TRANSIT VEHICLES WITH INSIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE IMPACTS TO LOCAL TRAFFIC ON CROSS STREETS. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
