Progress towards a formal qualification in credit management in China came a step closer last month with the ICM CEO's visit to the 6th China International Credit & Risk Management Conference in Chengdu. Philip King was a guest of Professor Patrick O. Connelly and The Tao Institute, a formal body looking to deliver credit management training equivalent to the ICM's own Level 3 qualification. King said that the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade is a clear influencer on the government decision making process in such matters. One sensed that if the trade body determined that everyone working in risk and credit in China needed to be formally accredited, then the qualification would immediately take off.
