2008 marks the 20 year that CSC will bestow the Award for Technical Excellence. The award, sponsored by CSC’s Leading Edge Forum, is the highest recognition for technical performance at CSC.

Overview Each year we honor our technology professionals with the CSC Award for Technical Excellence. The award recognizes technology achievements that demonstrate innovation coupled with proven business results. It is a company-wide tribute to talent, skills, creativity and business application of technology. Any regular employee of CSC and its subsidiaries may be nominated for the award. Awards and honors Award recipients receive the following honors: Options on 1000 shares of CSC stock. A Steuben crystal sculpture. A framed certificate. Permanent plaques at CSC corporate headquarters and their division headquarters. Paid travel and expenses to attend the CSC Technology and Business Solutions Conference in the year they receive the award. Free admission to the CSC TBSC in the year they receive the award. Recognition throughout the company. Award finalists receive the following honors: A commemorative gift. A framed certificate. Selection process The LEF executive committee, a group of technology executives who represent CSC’s organizations, is responsible for the award selection process. Each nomination undergoes rigorous evaluation by both the LEF and subcommittees consisting of hundreds of CSCers who independently evaluate the nominations submitted in their category of expertise. Using data returned by the subcommittees and its own evaluations, the LEF selects an appropriate number of finalists. After reviewing the finalists’ presentations, the LEF determines which achievements satisfy the highest degree of excellence based on the selection criteria and recommends those finalists to CSC President and CEO Mike Laphen, who then make the final selection of award recipients. Eligibility Requirements All achievements and nominees must meet the following eligibility requirements. No exceptions will be made. 1. This award recognizes technical achievements only. Achievements in project management, sales, marketing, administrative support or other such areas are not eligible. 2. Any regular employee of CSC and its subsidiaries may be nominated for the award.* (There is no length-of-service requirement.**) 3. Corporate officers, group/division presidents, vice presidents and members of the Leading Edge Forum and its selection subcommittees are not eligible. 4. Individuals and teams of no more than four persons may be nominated. 5. Teams must consist of only those members who have made technical contributions. 6. The achievement must be completed at the time of the nomination and in use for its intended purpose. 7. The achievement must have taken place within the past three years. *Previous recipients are not eligible for an award for the same achievement, but may be nominated for a different accomplishment over the past three years. There are no restrictions for those who were previously nominated, but did not receive an award.

Selection criteria Each nomination will be evaluated according to the following four criteria and must excel in all four areas. All criteria are weighted equally during the selection process. Innovation What was technically new, creative, or unique about this achievement? Leverage How CSC could exploit this achievement in other business domains. Proven How the achievement has been applied and how it is being used. Value How the achievement added value for the client—both qualitative and quantitative. There is a separate section on the nomination form to describe how the achievement meets each criterion.

Grouping by category is used for evaluation purposes only. Each category encompasses a general technology area and determines to which evaluation subcommittee each nomination is assigned. The number and distribution of awards given is not determined by category. Each nominator must select a category from those listed.
Category definitions Applied Sciences – Achievement based mainly on deep applied knowledge leading to innovation within some scientific, physical or mathematical investigation and result. Computer programming could be involved, but the main accomplishment is in a non-computer field. Knowledge Management – Achievement in the conceptualization, engineering and deployment of knowledge solutions, including the development of knowledge management strategies, processes, services, assets, systems, infrastructure, and tools. This can include unique client initiatives or enhancements to CSC's own knowledge environment. Management Consulting and Business Transformation – Achievement that significantly improves the performance or strategy of an organization and delivers breakthrough results. The achievement is innovative and based on deep knowledge in a business area, industry or process. It can include business transformation and change management initiatives; vertical industry and horizontal business process initiatives; and development and/or execution of a strategic or tactical plan. The achievement is not necessarily computer related although it may spawn computer system development. Process Methodology – Design and development of innovative approaches, techniques, methodologies and tools, which measurably increase the quality and efficiency of business change, system development, operations, testing process, procedures and/or process measurements. This includes enhancements and creation of custom life cycles and frameworks, CSC CatalystSM, and other industry standards such as CMMI® and ISO.
Software Development – Development of innovative software ―products‖ and/or the application of innovative designs and/or tools to produce high quality software ―products,‖ such as expert systems, productivity tools, reuse libraries, etc. Systems Engineering and Architecture – Conceptualization, definition and engineering of an implementable architecture and design for a system utilizing innovative techniques and technologies. The resulting system should enhance one or more of the following: usability, supportability, reliability, maintainability, extensibility, reusability, availability, measurability, portability, etc. Systems Integration – Production of a complex system composed of multiple pieces of hardware, software and communications. Much of the system should consist of existing components (purchased or developed in-house). Some custom work is expected to assist in the integration effort. Technology Management — Achievement based on the innovation and techniques, applied technology and/or processes in the management of technical systems and infrastructure. This category can include computing platforms from PCs and engineering workstations to mainframes and supercomputers. Services can include data center operations, network management, distributed systems management, applications management, help desk management, strategic technology planning, and disaster recovery services.

Completing the nomination form Nominations must be submitted using the MS Word form contained in this document (it begins on page 6). You may not use a previous year’s form. You may not alter the nomination form. (You may remove the ―Begin response here…‖ notes in each section.) All information must be included on the nomination form. No additional documentation will be accepted. Responses must fit in the space designated. Each page indicates the maximum space allowed for responses. There is no specific length required for responses, but they have to fit on the page. Keep the file size small. Insert graphic images in the lowest resolution and most compressed format possible (no bitmaps). Include only graphics that are relevant to the content of the nomination. DO NOT include photos of the nominees. Delete pages 1- 5 before submitting the nomination. The nomination form begins on page 6. Give your file the same name as the title of your nomination. Submitting the nomination Nominations must be submitted by November 5, 2007, 5:30 PM US eastern standard time. At that time, the nomination period will close and no further submissions will be accepted. After you complete the MS Word nomination form, go to http://csc.com/lefportal to submit it. Follow instructions and attach the MS Word file where indicated. You will need to copy and paste
