At 36 years old, [Jodie Imel] lmel considered himself to be the picture of perfect health until she went in for a baseline mammogram nine years ago. "I knew something was wrong. My doctor looked at the mammogram film which showed white spots on the breast tissue. He said, 'See these spots? This is all cancer and this al! has to come out." Jodie recalled the shock she felt when she heard about the diagnosis. "I was healthy, I took care of myself and then this just happened out of the blue." Three weeks before her 37th birthday, she underwent a modified radical mastectomy of the left breast.
