driver of the Race for Achievement ’09 Cobalt Pro Stocker

I t’s been a little more than four months since I
drove at a national event, at the O’Reilly NHRA
Midwest Nationals in Madison, but now, by the time
you read this, I will have returned to competition at
the NHRA Carolinas Nationals at zMax Dragway.
While many of the Professional competitors have their
sights set on the Countdown to 1 and the
de facto six-race playoffs that will crown this year’s
champions, I am already looking ahead to next season
with the goal of getting a jump-start on 2010.
Before the Charlotte race, we were able to take the race rig over to Camp
Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C., and spend the day with the United States
Marine Corps. The Marine Corps has been an associate partner on my Chevy
Cobalt throughout most of the 2009 campaign. They have been a tremendous
supporter of mine this year, so this was a great chance to visit Camp
Lejeune, display our race car, sign some autographs, and just spend the
entire day with the United States Marines. We were able to visit some of our
wounded soldiers there and let them know how much we appreciate what
                         they’ve done for our country.

“This is a lot of fun: driving the car,
facing the competition, and going up
against the best racers in the world.”
It was a difficult decision to park the race team following the Madison
event, especially considering the fact that we qualified at six of the first
seven races on the tour. I thought we had momentum, and I felt good with
the team that we had both at the track and the shop. Unfortunately, I needed
to devote more time to finding additional fundin
