									  How Sustainability
      is changing
Christ United Methodist
         Church
 So God created humankind in his image, in
the image of God he created them; male and
 female he created them. God blessed them,
    and God said to them, "Be fruitful and
multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and
  have dominion over the fish of the sea and
over the birds of the air and over every living
      thing that moves upon the earth."
                 (Genesis 1:26)
 What started as an idea…

Has started to change how we have done
things…
 Involve all aspects of our congregation…

                   And Live our Legacy.

           Sustainability
  What was our idea?
To build our new sanctuary sustainably;

   To set an example for our congregation,

      Our community,

         And care for God’s Creation.
  Living our Legacy

These efforts are not just for today;
 We do not impact just our current
 members;
   We are doing this for tomorrow;
    For our grandchildren, and our
    grandchildren’s grandchildren.
     Defining Sustainability
 “Development that meets the needs
    of the present without compromising
    the ability of future generations to
    meet their own needs.”

   ~ Brundtland Commission, 1987
  What is being done with our new
  sanctuary?

It is being built with an eye on the future;

  We are seeking LEED certification;

    It will be the first LEED certified
    sanctuary in Texas.
