 Direct Final:

General Rules

1. The match consists of 5 boards, three boards will be played by single player and two
boards will be played by double players (referred to as ‘team’).
2. All players will draw a tile from the bag and the alphabet nearest to ‘A’ will start, but
‘blank’ will start first. If 2 or more players draw the same alphabet, those players will
draw a tile again without replacement. The game will proceed in an anti-clockwise
   direction for doubles.
3. Double letter, double word, triple letter and triple word scores are only counted to the
score once; it is when the respective box are used for the first time.
4. The game ends in 3 ways:
             a. The letters in the sack are all used and one player/team has used all
                  his/her/their words; or
             b. On 6 successive movements of 0 score; or
             c. On agreement between both opponents.
When the game ends, the player(s)/team(s) who still have some tiles in his/their
deck(s) will be required to deduct their total score by the sum of scores of those
         letters.
5. For double competition, members of the same team are not allowed to have a direct
communication, help each other or exchange tiles from each other. One should act as
the clock-stopper while the other takes note of the score.
6. The stopclock of the opponent must be tapped after a player finishes his move.
7. During the game, players are not allowed to bring in dictionary or use phone/online
    dictionary.
8. Word challenges are allowed. The reference used is SOWPODS word software.
If the challenge is successful, the word-maker will have to withdraw the respective
word from the board and loses the turn.
If the challenge is unsuccessful, the challenger’s score is deducted by 5 points. The
maximum number of unsuccessful challenges allowed are 3 per game per player; no
further challenges are allowed afterwards. On challenges, the clock must be
neutralized. The challenger must raise his hand to the match referee and show the
challenged word to the referee. The referee will check the availability of the word at
    the software provided.
9. If the time limit for one/both of the opponent exceeds the 30 minutes time limit, the
respective player/team’s score is deducted by 10 for every exceeding minutes.
10. The winner of each match is based on the number of games won (best of 5). Each
game is independent of the other. Should there be a draw in the match, the total
spread of 5 games will be compared, the contingent with the higher total spread will
win. If the total spread is a tie, the first eligible board for that match is considered.
11. In the case of withdrawal or walkover of one of the team/contingent in preliminary
round, the opponent will be considered as the respective match winner by 5-0. In
semi-final and final, as they are done in knock-out format, the opponent will directly
