There are many versions concerning the origin of this song. A
friend of mine [Hal Farrar], who knew Stuart Hamblin related to me
the following: He said that Stuart Hamblin and John Wayne were
neighborhood friends, both liked horses, both considered themselves
cowboys. They had many conversations about spiritual issues, but
Stuart was unable to convince John Wayne of his need for Christ.
During one of their conversations, Hamblin used the phrase ‘it is no
secret what God can do: John Wayne told Hamblin that if he believed
that, he should write it down. Returning that evening, Hamblin was
downcast as he entered his house. He opened the door, visited briefly
with his wife, and then the clock chimed midnight. He was overcome
with emotion concerning John Wayne’s refusal to receive Christ as
his Savior. In less than one half hour, he wrote the words to this
memorable Christian song.
The chimes of time ring out the news, There is no night for in His light
Another day is through. You’ll never walk alone.
Someone slipped and fell, Always feel at home
Was that someone you? Wherever you may roam.

You may have longed for added strength, There is no power can conquer you
Your courage to renew, While God is on your side
Do not be disheartened, Take Him at His promise,
For I have news for you!! Don’t run away and hide.

It is no secret what God can do.
What He's done for others,
He'll do for you.
With arms wide open,
He'll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be
                          which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth
unto life, and few there be that find it.
