Title of Initiative: PROVIDER AND CLINIC AUTOMATED PRODUCTIVITY
                     REPORT
Type of Initiative: Field Initiative
Implementation Site(s): United States Army MEDDAC Heidelberg (USAMH)
Implementation Location(s): Heidelberg, Germany
Date Submitted: April 2001

DESCRIPTION OF INITIATIVE

The United States Army MEDDAC Heidelberg (USAMH) established the Provider Productivity
Model. The model improves organization productivity and efficiency by providing reliable and
valid information in an easy to read format to leaders and providers. The model also provides a
consolidated report of productivity and cost information on individual providers and clinics.
The Commander’s goal was to give leaders and providers a consolidated report that accurately
reflects the data systems and not use numerous man-hours in collecting and formatting this data.

Leaders of USAMH must use several data sources to obtain a full picture of provider and clinic
productivity and efficiency. Data sources include Composite Health Care System (CHCS),
Ambulatory Data System (ADS), Medical Expense and Performance Reporting System
(MEPRS) Executive Query System (MEQS), Standard Financial System (STANFINS), and third
party collections. Putting these resources in a report card format save managers time at all
levels, allowing them to compare individually and collectively against specific measures.

Results of Initiative:

This tool provides managers with benchmarks and measurements of productivity. This gives
leaders and providers the necessary information impacting individual and clinic productivity and
efficiency. In addition to reporting information, this tool identifies system and input errors that
indirectly help improve the data quality.
