why the Cannon name will always be synonymous with the
success our great Club has had. Ros has been heard to say
they will definitely not be back a third time.
Of course they won’t, Cameron Meninga, our new manager,
was trained by the Cannon’s and we all welcome Cameron
to the new job with respect for his ability to keep our
Supporters Club as the best in Australia.
On a sad note, we said goodbye to long time friend, life
member and Club historian, Ted Turner, who sadly passed
away this season. Ted will be fondly remembered by the
members of Mooloolaba SLSC everytime we pick up a copy
of the Clubs’ 75th Anniversary history book which Ted
compiled.
The theme of this years annual report is ‘The end of an era’
and a great era it was.
Remember that we have many times in the Clubs 85 year
history started a new era and new members emerge, new
champions are born, Club spirit and history always seem to
lead us to greater things.
We are at the start of a new era and say thanks to all who
put in so much to make this exciting prospect possible.

This season saw many changes in the training and
assessment ranks that included different resuscitation rates,
the completion of the national accredited certificate II in
public safety for all members and a new process for the
completion of proficiencies.
From a training perspective the introduction of the new
resuscitation rates by the Australian Resuscitation Council
provide a challenge in up skilling all members with the
knowledge and undertaking the practical assessment with a
short time frame.

Edward (Ted) Charles Turner
4/5/28 - 30/8/06
It was a sad day indeed when the Club lost one
of our Life Members and Club Historian Ted
Turner who passed away after a short illness.
Ted, who loved to sit and enjoy the view and
friendly company from the lawn in front of the
Surf Club, was always the first to volunteer to be
the cook for Club BBQ’s, was keen to learn how
our competitors both junior and seniors faired at
Carnivals and also loved to pass on his memories
of how Mooloolaba used to be.
Ted was a popular and friendly face around the
Club and will be sadly missed by all.
Rest in peace Ted.
