I am interested in the ways in which value-laden information is intelligible to and
used by firms. In my dissertation, I investigate whether firms understand and use
information about values and institutions more frequently when the information is
quantitative. Do ratings increase the adoption of rated practices? I use logistic
regression to determine whether inclusion in ratings has impact on firm
behaviour. I use heterogeneous diffusion modelling to examine how the
publication of ratings shifts the diffusion patterns of rated practices. In related
publications and working papers with colleagues, I also explore issues in
corporate social responsibility, regulations and standards, and business
education.
