Kara Yessie leaves National Office – Kara Yessie, former High Performance Program Coordinator for USA
Weightlifting, has left the National Office to move in a new direction with her career. She worked for USAW for 2 ½ years,
and we truly enjoyed her great smile and dedicated work ethic. Kara, we will miss you and we wish you all the best for the
future!

American Open Registration Now Open – Registration is now open for the 2009 American Open, which will be
held in Mobile, AL on December 11-13. Please go to the following link for registration and travel information:

Medal Winners at Pan Am Sub 17 Championships- USA Weightlifting would like to recognize the medal
winners from the 2009 Pan Am Sub 17 Championships in Santiago, Chile. Congratulations to the following athletes:

Women:

63 kg - Krislyn Li- Clean and Jerk- 78 kg BRONZE

Men:

56 kg - Darren Barnes- Snatch- 90 kg     BRONZE
              -         Total- 200 kg    BRONZE

56 kg - Weced Vang- C & J- 111 kg        BRONZE

62 kg - Darrel Barnes- Snatch- 98 kg      BRONZE

85 kg - Edward Baker- Snatch- 110 kg      BRONZE
                 - C & J- 130 kg          BRONZE
                 - Total- 240 kg          BRONZE

94+ kg - Brandell Sampson- Snatch- 120 kg SILVER



USOC “Coach of the Year” - Nominations received from USA Weightlifting’s members will be considered by the
Board of Directors for submission to the USOC. Please contact usaw@usaweightlifting.org with your nomination for
USOC “Coach of the Year” by October 15, 2009 and include any information that you feel supports your nomination.
