Presenter: OCLC Western Staff member Program Title: New Developments in Consortial Borrowing Length: 90 minutes Program Description – What do you get when you type „consortial borrowing‟ into Google? Number one the Orbis Cascade Alliance, and number two - the University of California. Clearly things are happening on the west coast. In this session we will look at recent projects that turn interlibrary loan into circulation. The speaker will make the provocative case that, in our users‟ view, we are one big library with branches then open the session to further discussion. Target Audience – who will most benefit by attending this program: All libraries and library staff who do resource sharing. Program Objectives: 1. 2. 3. At the end of the program, attendees will be able to define consortial borrowing and give some examples of it. At the end of the program, attendees will be able to differentiate interlibrary loan and consortial borrowing, and give examples of each. At the end of the program, attendees will have participated in a debate of how the definition of “library” may be shifting.
