Oracle Database Enterprise Edition Description Oracle9i Enterprise Edition provides efficient, reliable, secure data management for high-end applications such as high volume on-line transaction processing (OLTP) environments, query-intensive data warehouses, and demanding Internet applications. Oracle9i Enterprise Edition provides the tools and functionality to meet the availability and scalability requirements of today's mission-critical applications for the enterprise. The Enterprise Edition includes everything in Oracle Standard Edition plus the following features: Advanced Replication: Replication is the process of copying and maintaining database objects, such as tables, in multiple databases that make up a distributed database system. Parallel Query: Parallel execution is designed to effectively use multiple CPUs and disks to answer queries quickly. Visual Information Retrieval: This feature extends the imaging capabilities of interMedia by allowing content-based retrieval of images. Advanced Backup and Recovery: Refers to the various strategies and procedures involved in protecting your database against data loss and reconstructing the data should that loss occur. Advanced Queuing: When Web-based business applications communicate with each other, producer applications enqueue messages and consumer applications dequeue messages. Advanced Queuing provides database-integrated message queuing functionality. Connection Manager & Pooling: Connection Manager is a proxy server, an intermediate server that forwards connection requests to the database server or to other proxy servers. MPI: Multi Protocol Interchange Restricted Use: Oracle Internet Directory for the purposes of Oracle Database Service information. Oracle Diagnostics Pack enables database administrators to perform advanced monitoring, diagnosis, and planning for the Oracle environment. Diagnostics Pack, an extension to Oracle Enterprise Manager, helps DBAs effectively monitor, diagnose, and plan within the Oracle database environment. By easing the administrative burden of managing an enterprise’s database environment and providing superior ease of use, customers will reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their Oracle-based systems. Oracle Tuning Pack provides database administrators with expert performance management for the Oracle environment, including SQL tuning and storage optimization. Oracle Tuning Pack, an extension to Oracle Enterprise Manager, helps DBAs optimize their Oracle database systems. By tuning and optimizing the Oracle environment, your customers will reduce their total cost of ownership by avoiding costly upgrades of hardware, memory, and disks. The Tuning Pack evaluates the entire Oracle environment including SQL statements, access methods, system and storage configuration parameters, and considers interactions between these aspects of system performance. Forms Services: Applications can be built for Oracle9iAS Forms Services using a set of integrated builders form Oracle9i Developer Suite that allow application developers to easily and quickly construct sophisticated database forms and business logic with minimal effort. Forms built in this environment are delivered through any Internet browser as a high performance rich Java client. Reports Services: Oracle9iAS Reports Services enables scaleable and secure publishing of dynamically generated Web reports. These reports can contain data from any data source including the Oracle9i database, XML, JDBC, or Text files. They can be formatted in any format using JSPs, or out of the box support for HTML, HTML/CSS, PDF, Postscript, PCL, Excel (CSV) and RTF. Your reports can be delivered anywhere including out of the box support for browsers, Email, Oracle9iAS Portal, and the printer. Reports are built Oracle9i Reports Developer - a rapid, wizard driven development environment tightly integrated with the Oracle9i database. Oracle Discoverer: Oracle9iAS Discoverer is an intuitive end-user tool for defining and running queries over the Web. It enables users to perform dynamic, ad-hoc query and analysis from a standard web browser. The highly functional, user-friendly interface ensures the right information can be put into the hands of the right users at the right time. Clickstream Intelligence: Oracle9iAS Clickstream Intelligence is a powerful web analytics tool that empowers end-users with analysis of Web site performance, visitor traffic, the effectiveness of Web content, and customer loyalty. It enables real insight into consumer behavior by allowing you to assess and correlate web site traffic patterns with business transactions – it provides the ability to read Web server logs, transform server log data into business facts and then integrate this data with business transaction data, such as orders and marketing campaigns. Internet Directory: Oracle Internet Directory (OID) is a critical component of the Oracle9iAS management and security infrastructure. It provides facilities to centrally manage user accounts, their access control privileges, and groups. Once users have been created centrally in OID, they can be shared across all components in Oracle9iAS. When users log in, they are authenticated once by Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On against their OID credential, and can then access multiple applications seamlessly. InterConnect: Oracle9iAS InterConnect is a comprehensive and flexible application integration platform that enables seamless integration of enterprise software. Tools Internet Developer Suite Oracle9i Developer Suite (Oracle9iDS) is the most complete and integrated development environment that combines the power of application development and business intelligence tools in a single suite that is based on the latest industry standards. Oracle9iDS lets developers quickly build high-quality transactional applications, which can be deployed to multiple channels - including portals, Web services, and wireless, and which can be extended with business intelligence capabilities - including ad hoc query and analysis, high-quality Web reporting, and advanced analysis. Oracle9iDS supports any development language, any development style, any operating system, allowing developers to take advantage of all their skills and backgrounds. Oracle Discoverer Administration: The Discoverer Administrator is used for the initial setup and ongoing maintenance of the End User Layer. The Discoverer manager performs a variety of tasks including maintenance of business areas, folders, summary table creation, and end user access. Discoverer provides extensive defaulting capability to enable managers to rapidly implement their end user environment. The Administrator is a required component of a complete Discoverer installation. Warehouse Builder: Oracle9i Warehouse Builder (OWB) leverages the Oracle9i platform, and provides an extensible framework for designing, deploying, and managing enterprise data warehouses, data marts and business applications.
