City Begins Major Water Main Replacement
The City of Prince Albert has begun a major water main replacement project. Water
mains in the 1500 and 1600 Blocks of 6th Avenue West will be affected.
“This will be one of the larger City infrastructure projects for the calendar year,” said
Colin Innes, Director of Public Works.
In addition to the areas directly affected by the water main replacement, local
residents on 6th Avenue West extending from 15th Street West to the railway tracks
located near 17th Street West, may experience temporary disruptions to their water
supply. The City Bus service will also be affected. The bus stop located on 6th
Avenue, north of 18th Street West, has been temporarily moved to 4th Avenue, north
of 18th Street West.
“We sent out public notices to all affected residents and businesses leading up to the
project in order to help provide better information and awareness to the affected
public” said Innes.
Kevin Callaghan, City Collection Distribution Manager, will be the project on-site
manager. Callaghan said that some City residents and businesses may also
experience disruption to driveways and parking spaces until the construction project
“We want to have the replacements done as quickly as possible, so we’re asking
affected residents and businesses to ensure that all vehicles are moved away from
the job site and have vacated posted parking lots,” said Callaghan.
Callaghan indicated that street crews are hoping to wrap up work by Thursday,
August 3rd. Any members of the public needing more information about the water
