A proposed settlement has been reached in a national class action that can restore benefits eligibility for up to 200,000 elder and disabled people whose Social Security benefits were wrongfully suspended or denied. The settlement covers the Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program (popularly known as Social Security); supplemental Security Income (SSI); Special Veterans Benefits (SVB) for certain World War II veterans living outside the United States; and representative payees for beneficiaries under each of these programs.
