Additional Features of EZDesigner/400 Most commands used to create a document on the iSeries are available in the GUI, including boxes, lines, and text. Word-wrapping available for text elements. Contains Element List Window to view the commands that have been added to the document. Download spool files and data files using the Java-based File Transfer Utility. Map the spool file, for data file on the PC, to the designed document, then upload the document to the iSeries, quickly and easily. (Mapping can be completed via split screens in the GUI.) Preview the completed document on screen. Upload the document to the iSeries using the Java-based File Transfer Utility. You can then use the completed document on the iSeries. Ability to download documents from the iSeries, to edit on the GUI using the Java-based File Transfer Utility, makes the utility bi-directional. C++ and Java-based architecture. The Document Design Process: STEP 1: Choose the type of document that you want to create... Form, Check or Label. STEP 2: Select the basic document setup (page size, orientation, etc.). STEP 3: Select the printer & print driver you will be using. STEP 4: Add the Document Elements. Adding commands or objects to the document is a simple click-and-drag process. First, you select the tool on the tool bar to the left and then use the mouse to click-and-drag, creating the object on the screen. As objects are added to the document, a simple list of the commands is shown for visual purposes.
STEP 6: Upload & Merge the Completed Document Once you have the document fully designed, you can see exactly how it will look. Upload the document to iSeries (AS/400), merge it with your spool file data, and print as needed.
STEP 5: Mapping Spool File Data (or Data Files) Mapping your iSeries (AS/400) spool data is easy. First, you link your document to your iSeries (AS/400) spool file. When that is done, you can see the document you are designing, as well as the spool data, on the same screen as shown below. Use the mouse to click and drag an area of text to be mapped and then drag it onto your document.
