Description: The event provided a test of wills for many involved, from dealing with on-again, off-again rain that claimed the final qualifying session for Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock and caused a two-hour delay to the start of Sunday's final eliminations to a litany of mechanical woes that befell some of the sport's heroes. Top Fuel racers Cory McClenathan, Lucas, Spencer Massey, and Shawn Langdon; Funny Car racer Jack Beckman; and Pro Stock Motorcycle riders Arana, Matt Smith, Doug Horne, and Craig Treble enjoyed the sense of relief that came with locking up their playoff berths while others, such as perennial Funny Car championship contender Robert Hight, slid backwards after not qualifying, victim at least partially of the lost qualifying session.
