Following wide bore core biopsy, specimen radiography is undertaken with a Faxitron analogue specimen cabinet using computed radiography (CR) cassettes, and images are archived to an AGFA picture archiving and communication system (PACS). Following exposure, a member of staff has to leave the mammography room to transport the cassette to the general viewing area, a distance of 27 metres, to process the CR image, which is then optimised and archived to PACS and Web 1000, the system used to view images in the clinical rooms on a PC monitor.
