INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT OF ITE by ProQuest

The author's meeting visits around the US and in Canada provide an insight on how the transportation profession is doing during these current economic times. The overwhelming impression he sees from the ITE members is a common strong dedication to their profession. This is evidenced by members networking with their peers, exchanging and discussing transportation topics, and by participation in technical sessions, many of which are standing room only. Each and every member works hard at doing the "right thing" and takes his other job very seriously. Areas that have had a negative effect on the profession include staffing cutbacks, reduced or eliminated travel and meeting funding, and other reductions in discretionary funding, including professional development. ITE has responded by granting waivers for the current year's annual dues to those who are unemployed.
