									                                  SFX Implementation Training
GALILEO Libraries: Agnes Scott University and State University of West Georgia
                                         August 3-4, 2004

Training Objectives:
To enable a site to implement an SFX system and to maintain it on an ongoing basis. The training will
include instructions for configuring pre-defined SFX resources and implementing site-specific resources
and services. The training will explain the SFX theory and inner workings using SFX 'flow' as a basis.
Training exercises will use the library's pre-compiled data for illustration purposes and to localize its pre-
installed SFX database. Finish with a working SFX instance.

DAY ONE: Tuesday, August 3, 2004

 Item Description Time

 General overview of SFX; flow of information through SFX – how
SFX works in general and what an end user experiences.
 Live demonstration of SFX with different Sources.

Everyone who would like to know a bit more about SFX and see live
examples of how SFX works from an end-user perspective.

Learning outcome: A general understanding of SFX and its potential within
the library for interlinking the site’s own resources. Some understanding of
what might be required to implement SFX. A clear understanding of the
difference between an SFX Source and an SFX Target.
