September INTEGRATED PLANNING Provost s Committee on Integrated Planning

September 2007 INTEGRATED PLANNING Provost’s Committee on Integrated Planning (PCIP) PCIP met twice in June and once in July to consider the following items: Core Area Space Plan – as part of a series of consultations, PCIP met with the heads of the units who are most affected by core area revitalization and space relief plans. A description of the space relief plan, approved by the Board of Governors in June, is included in the article “Space relief plan set in motion” (July 6, 2007, issue of On Campus News). In addition, approval was received for more rental space for the College of Nursing, School of Physical Therapy, and School of Public Health. Academic Priorities Fund (APF) – a report on allocations from the APF was received. Among the allocations were funding for the New Faculty Awards Program, SWITCH (Student Wellness Initiative Toward Community Health – the student-managed interdisciplinary wellness project at the West Side Community Clinic), and the Matching Research Grants Program. Dental Clinic computer system – PCIP had preliminary conversations about the need for a replacement computer system for the Dental Clinic. This system is an essential component/tool for the teaching and learning of dental students and will encompass patient data, as well as student academic records and evaluation information. General capital equipment – allocations were approved to contribute to college and unit capital equipment needs. Other funding – funds were allocated for the Centre for Continuing and Distance Education, the University Press, and Education Media Access Production Services as part of the Extension Division transition. Funding was also provided for preliminary work toward the development of a University-wide information strategy. Reports were received regarding a Performance Framework Project and the Employee Opinion Survey. PCIP also reviewed decision items being submitted to the Finance and Land & Facilities Committees of the Board of Governors. Council is reminded that a monthly summary of PCIP’s agendas is posted on the Integrated Planning website at www.usask.ca/vpacademic/integrated-planning/AboutUs/reports/.
