Welcome, introductions 2. Review of minutes from July 17 meeting • Council on Renewable Energy • Cost $200 for affiliation, pursue affiliation? • Draft of Action Plan 3. Announcements • Sept/Oct.Wincharger avai1able • DOE/SEP grant results for OWPI look good, but still not certain • WEPO - grant application in expected result soon on award, Greg Adams, Executive Director. • Oklahoma Corporation Commission agenda for (24 October 2002) meeting - OCC staff helpful and supportive of wind power. • Kerr Center, November 15-16 conference: “Future Farms 2002” • Wind power development studies (Tower base sampling) near Hammond, Oklahoma. Tim Hughes will invite developer to OREC meeting on October 9, 2002. • Thanks to Troy Simonsen - going on to North Dakota. • November -Oklahoma State Secretary of Energy has invited OREC to present views on renewable energy. ODOC may or may not participate on “State Energy Plan”. 4. Tulsa State Fair Exhibit: • Wind emphasis, no submissions yet for bioenergy.
• Have 1 kW Bergey turbine. • Environmental and economic benefits. • Simple format to influence and educate. 5. OREC Funding Issues: • OREC to contribute to funding “Wind Power for Oklahoma”. Tim Hughes will bring brochure to next meeting. • Tulsa State Fair funding has been minimal -costs are low -no exhibit booth expense • 501(c)(3) - Mike Bergey, 18 months to apply for, Rick Moore will move along application. 6. Meeting Schedule: • Suggestion made by Greg Adams for monthly meeting with bi-monthly board of directors meeting Attracting more meeting participants: • Coordinate with hydrocarbon industries -energy -Jamie McAlpine to be contacted. • Dewey Bartlett, Jr. former OIPA chairman. • November meeting object: outreach to traditional energy producers through associations to effect more interest in transition from traditional fossil fuel sources to clean alternatives. • Public agenda meeting alternate monthly with board meeting Patrick Kelly at October meeting: EPA Committee Activities • Wind -Mike Bergey absent • Government Affairs (Ward) - federal energy bill - Frank Lucas National RPS in Energy Bill 5-6% • IREC’s probably included
